At the Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum, we believe teachers should design how they want to use our services and lessons to enhance their students learning. So, we offer a menu of lessons to be used as pre- and post-visit activities to choose from to enhance your experience before, during and after your visit.

Artifact Investigation
By studying images of objects, students will familiarize with a few of the objects necessary for survival during colonial Brooklyn.

Rural-to-Urban
Examining images to see how the house changed over time from 1898 through today.

Pieter Claesen Wyckoff
Using five document-based question worksheets, learn about Pieter's life before he lives in colonial Brooklyn.


The Geographic Evolution of New Amsterdam
With the use of maps, students will "see" how the area known as New Amsterdam evolved from the 1600's and modern times.


Slavery in Colonial Brooklyn
Primary source documents are used to help students examine slavery in colonial Brooklyn in the 1700s and 1800s.


Museum Guide
If you are bringing your group for a house tour, you can use the guide to supplement the tour. OR, have students complete the guide for extra credit.

Monocots and Diocots
Differentiate between monocot and dicot plants by observing and comparing the structure of their seeds and identifying vascular differences between plants.
